Description
Offered for auction here is the booklet entitled "China Defensive". The Japanese occupied major portions of China in the north, central and southern areas, to include most of the Chinese coast. The Chinese Nationalist Army, led by General Chiang Kai-shek, was the major opposition to Japan, which treated the Chinese people with barbarous cruelty. The US established a military operation shortly after Pearl Harbor to support China, led by General Joseph Stillwell. The US trained Chinese troops and supplied them with arms and munitions. Much of the supplies came from Burma along the famous "Burma Road". The US had no illusions about defeating the Japanese in this theater - its sole intent was to keep China in the war so that Japan could not relocate forces to other areas.US Army Campaigns of World War II - China Defensive
