    Description

Two Antique George Washington Cut Plug RJ Reynolds Co. TOBACCO TINS
The first tin is lunch boxer pail style with a bail with a wooden handle. Beautiful lithography of George Washington appears on all four sides with black, red, white and blue paint used. The front of the tin has its latch intact and opens and closes nicely. Box measures 7 3/8” wide x 4 1/4” deep x 4 1/2” tall. The paint/lithography is in mostly good condition with expected loss and wear from age, with one larger patch of loss on the lid—please see all photos.
The second tin is a round cylinder shape and measures 5” tall x 4” diameter with removable lid. It has a very faded original paper tax stamp on the side of the container. The paint/lithography is in good to fair condition, with loss and wear. Looks to have had a piece of tape across the lid and down one side at one time. There are a couple small dings in the tin but nothing that affects the overall shape, or opening and closing the can. “Factory No. 8 District of N.C.” and some fine print are on the underside. Inside of lid has a paper insert to dampen should the contents become dry.
Both items are products of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
