The Bulldog is a breed with characteristically wide head and shoulders along with a pronounced mandibular prognathism. There are generally thick folds of skin on a Bulldog's brow; round, black, wide-set eyes; a short muzzle with characteristic folds called "rope" above the nose; hanging skin under the neck; drooping lips and pointed teeth and occasionally, an underbite. The coat is short, flat and sleek, with colors of red, fawn, white, brindle, and piebald.
In the UK, the breed standards are 50 pounds for a male and 40 pounds for a female.In the US, a typical mature male weighs approximately 45–55 pounds. Mature females weigh in at approximately 45 pounds.
Bulldogs are one of the few breeds whose tail is naturally short and either straight or screwed and thus is not cut or docked as with some other breeds. A straight tail is a more desirable tail according the breed standard set forth by the BCA if it is facing downward, not upward.
Coin Story
This silver proof coin with a serrated edge is dedicated to our constant companions: Cats and Dogs! The English Bull Dog coin is second of the My Great Protector coins to be released as part the ambitious Dogs and Cats series by JVP Investment Coins. In total, there will be 72 different designs in this series, including 36 cats and 36 dogs. The dogs featured within My Great Protector symbolize reliability and security. Although the English Bulldog's appearance can be somewhat intimidating, it is among the gentlest of dogs. A very affectionate animal but known for its courage and its excellent guarding abilities.
Reverse Design
This 1 oz 999 silver coin features a colour image of a English Bulldog against the finely engraved background of a car interior. Each of the coins within the Dogs and Cats series will feature a Swarovski Circonia stone. The My Great Protector English Bulldog coin features a ruby red stone in the shape of a five pointed star.
Obverse Design
The obverse features the emblem of Republic of Fiji and is engraved with the specifications of '2 dollars' and the year '2013'.
Packaging
The My Great Protector English Bulldog coin is housed in beautiful presentation case, coloured to harmonize with the coins ruby red Swarovski Circonia star, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
